Air Pump

My 99 Sl2 had a blown fuse for the AirPump, so I took the airpump out and drained about a 1/2 cup of water from it...Im assuming the airpump got water in it from the exhaust, and than froze, which in turn restricted the motor from moving and blew the fuse...I have replaced the fuse and the pump is running fine, but I have noticed that after the pump runs its cycle , small amounts of exhaust smoke come out of the airpump intake...is this normal or is the airpump contoller valve busted? I am slowly trying to get rid of My SES light, and this was step one...next is Camshaft Position sensor, which I am hoping is just new plugs...
