:banghead: I just got a new stater, checked all the relays... It sounds like the starter is engaging but the engine wont turn over... Im guessing the next step is to try turning it by hand but i dont really have the tools for that right now.... Any suggestions???

How is the battery?......also check the connections at the battery terminals.....and at the starter.
A tight, clean looking connection can still have some corrosion that can cause a significant voltage drop.

Watch the dome light when you try to crank the engine.....does it dim significantly?....if so, the battery may be failing under load.....or the battery terminal connections may need a good cleaning (remove the battery cable and clean the terminals and connectors.....and re-install.

If the dome light does not significantly dim.....the connections at the starter could be in need of the same treatment.

If those 2 don't solve the issue....then it may be a more expensive / involved solution......which is why it is best to try the easy and cheap first.

I had the same problem with my 1997 3.8 Windstar. Heres what I did:

-turned the key all the way forward to the start position and held it there

-next I slowly inched it back towards the "OFF" position, but as I inched it backwards I would also turn the key back to the "START" position as it came back farther

-it would act up on me maybe once more that day, and then the problem would go away for months on end, my tumbler and keys were replaced right before I bought the van so that may play a role in it
