P0133 Code

On a 2001 SL2. The good old S.E.S. light keeps coming and staying on. Did a scan this morning which showed 2 codes a P0133 and a pending P0133. I understand this is the front bank 1, O2 sensor, possibly frayed wires or a bad sensor. Does anyone know exactly where this is, and aprox. how much the part is. I understand it's on the exhaust somewhere. Also did an O2 sensor search on a few parts sites and there are a wide range of prices and a few types. They're not really specific just calling them O2 sensors. Want to make sure I'm buying the right part and not spending to much $$ on something that's not really hurting the performance of the car. I'm going to replace it soon and not going to be erasing the code all the time, in case I really get a more important malfunction without knowing it.

Forget what I asked I found it, it's on the exhaust manifold on the engine, removed from above. Still not sure of the price but at least I know where it is. Happy Holidays

I would advise getting a Denso or NGK/NTK brand O2 sensor. The correct sensor is usually around $40-60. Avoid the cheap universal O2 sensors that cost ~$20. I haven't had the best luck with Bosch O2 sensors so I don't recommend those.

Bosh universals are horrible.

Get one from the junk yard. Work great, have the OEM connector already :)

That is the right part and yes its hurting performance. That is the primary feedback sensor for fuel delivery. Expect your mileage to be bad until the sensor is replaced.

Thanks for the response. I guess I have a general definition of not hurting the performance meaning, it starts, runs, doesnt break down much, makes really loud squealing noises, knocking, pinging, or bucking. But that's really general. I'll replace it. It runs for about 30 minutes and then the indicator light comes back on so it's time to get a new one. Thanks for the tip on the bosch sensor. It seems to be the one most offered at the aftermarket stores, so I'll ask specifically for the NGK or Denso.
