Check/replace the battery and cables. If the battery is bad, don't drive it too long like that or you'll end up needing a new alternator too. Your starter requires more power than all of the other stuff combined and then some and even more power when the weather is cold. So that explains why all the other stuff works fine.

It could also be a bad starter, but I would first rule out the battery and cables.

What do the cables look like? If they are corroded bad enough, power won't be able to go to/from the battery like it should. This means that power can't get to the starter and power can't get from the starter to the battery to charge it. I say from the starter because the alternator's output lead goes to the starter; not straight to the battery. If the ground cable is very corroded it produces the same effect.

It's hard to get a good connection on a side post battery. REALLY check the connections there. The bolt might be tight but the cable could still be loose. I hate side post batteries.

okay today when I tried to start the car everything went off. After popping hood and moving battery, it all came back on. When driving lights will dim and flicker when hitting brakes bumps etc. So anyway does this mean that the cables hooking to the battery are bad?
Also after popping the clutch this evening i could smell what smelled like brake fluid. Is that my clutch going because of popping it? Or what.
Thanks
