I have a 97 saturn sl1 with 163,000 miles on it the car started fine as usual that morning. Later on in the day i notice a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment. Turned it off ch ecked the oil added a quart and noticed the antifreeze was low drove to the store, still hearing the rattle turned it off went in came out started it back up while adding antifreeze it shut off and has been off since. Whenever i try to start it no matter connected to a battery charger or jumper cables it acts as if the battery isnt strong enough to turn the engine over. It still seems to turn a bit i hope the engine isnt frozen. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Kind of sounds like a broken or jumped timing chain. If so, valves are probably bent or broken and the head will have to come off and be repaired.

Could be a cracked head or blown head gasket The engine might be hydro-locked.
Pull the plugs out, have someone turn the engine over while you watch for water exiting the spark plug holes.
Don't stand in front of the engine when you do it.

How low was it on oil? Last time the oil was changed? Is the coolant or oil milky or odd colored?

Crank the engine over by hand using the 21mm bolt on the crankshaft. If you cannot crank it over by hand your engine is done.

Change the ECTS and check the connector. Replace it if it has corrosion on it. Remove the plugs and crank it over to remove any excess gas.

Be specific. it cranks or does not crank?
