Before i replace my iss shaft in my 2005 chev impala i was wondering if anyone else repalced theres and did it make any difference in the knocking in the steering, what mine does to best explain my problem is while stopped and turning my wheel from the stop position in park and turning to the left i get a big clunk, bang and pop and also the same when turning to the right, now the thing is is it will only do the pop, clunk and bang while the car is on the groung and on the pavement,it is perfect with no clunks or bangs when turning the wheel while stopped on the dirt driveway or in the garage on a concrete floor and still doest not pop when the car is jacked up seems like it does it only on pavement when there is more strain on the wheels, the car drives fine on the highway and can take my hands off the wheel and the car drives straight and seems to be in line and does't squeel the tires around turns so i can't see any other front end parts being bad like tie rods ball joints ect, there is no noise when hitting bumps in the rd or knocking, has anyone had the same complaint with the shaft (iss) i had it greased 3 years ago under warranty but at that time it only had a slight knock and looseness when driving the car over bumps in the rd and sometimes when turning while driving but this time the steering is a little stiff while at a stop and turning left to right with a big clunk, thanks

you should very soon bring to a repair shop for an inspection of the front end componets ...this could be serious..

i plan on doing that this week, funny thing the car drives like brand new, handles good,i checked the tie rods inner and outer ball joints and wheel bearings all nice and tight, like i said nothing loose in the car ecept for the annoying clunk when turning left to right when pulling out of my driveway or in a parking space when you have to turn all the way to the left or right
