Yeah I saw the little one, but the real eclipse has a big one right above the tire, not in front of the tire. It's much bigger than that.

The movie car has a BLACK toyo tires sticker on the passenger side fender , above the wheel well.

RockinWRX

The rims may be different , but I see no reason to beleive that the car thats been posted is NOT the movie car. Too bad we can't see the other side of it.

WRONG, I just whipped out the movie just to prove you wrong. In the very beginning right after the civics get the rig, he pulls up in the parking lot in the eclipse and there on the DRIVERS SIDE is a black toyo tires sticker.

OK this is the real car, and I compared it to the movie and it is all correct. The pic you posted also has more stickers, like names of stuff and whatever the red thing is right in front of the door.

Yeah , that was my first pic above. Sheesh , read back will ya?:comprage1 I dunno what the car is in the pics in this thread , but its a good repro , while not very exact. Do a little research guys , its pretty easy to find the real one.

Pic of the 1:18th scale Eclipse from the movie. This would be accurate if nothing else.:bigthumb:

Just to clear everything up on an old argument, the movie eclipse is a GS or RS so it is N/A. A dead giveaway is to LOOK AT THE HEADER AND INTAKE!!!!!! in the film. Both show that it is not a turbo 4G63.

But I think the car itself was alright in concept when the movie came out but now the blitz body kit has been used on way to many riced out all show no go eclipses and people need to be original.

You can cleary see that is a 420A, so I assumed they turboed it. But when I looked closer at the scene when they check out his engine, you can clearly see the N/T header:rolleyes:

RockinWRX

I don't doubt it. I just wonder why all the misleading information about this car. Even the official website says its turbo:confused: At least they didn't have the nerve to call it a GSX:mad:

RockinWRX
06-24-2003, 01:11 AM
Do you think maybe that header is a variation on RRE"s T-3 mani? Just with longer runners , maybe. I'd love to see down inside there and look where those pipes end up

Talon007
06-24-2003, 01:11 AM
Its all Hollywood hype they cant have a 'inferior' N/T car, so they bullshitted evryone into thinking it was turbo. Looks like they got you on it too:wink:

I'm just going by what I read. I'd still like a good look in the engine bay.

To the redneck I was previously arguing with: You say you watched the film to see where the TOYO sticker was....did you notice the intake, champ?:thefinger

Edit: and even if one were to go by the specs, its obviously not a 4g63T, which has the displacement of 1997cc as stated on the previous pages.

Hi everyone,

this picture that everyone passes around debating whether it is real or not. Just so you know, on the window you see a "Fast and the Furious" sticker on it. That's simple enough to prove that's not the car instead of looking at the differences at the Toyo Tire sticker. Also, in the movie, they didn't use just one Eclipse. They used a few, all looking the same, but each for different purposes. From the outside, they all could have looked the same, but internally, you never know. I'm sure they didn't blow up a '95 gsx with a 20g turbo and intercooler. It was probably a stock gs with outside appearence redone. When they showed the engine, they probably took the easiest one to dress up and dressed it up. For the race, i could only assume they used an all-wheel drive for savety reasons(though i have less of an idea than you all do). Just remember, for the beginning of the race, before they start, all cars are blowing flames out there exhausts. When the race starts, the eclipse has a different exhaust on it with no flame tip. That leads you to ask, different exhaust? Or different car all together?

Lastly, this is something really stupid to fight over. It's a waste of a life if your arguing over what engine is in that eclipse. Is it gonna change your life no. If you really wanna know.... it Isn't a 4g64

Noone has even mentioned the 4g64, but you are correct; it isn't a 4g64. It is also, not a 4g63 or 4g63t. It is a 420a. I'm just waiting for the apology from the keyboard commando with sub-par vision. I certainly don't lose sleep over an internet forum. My trans taking a shit...thats a different story.:frown:

I'm happy you aren't losing any sleep, since i have insomnia, but the whole mentioning of the 4g64... it was a joke since only spyders have those. It was mentioned because it got you nowhere on your debate.

Not sure if the insomnia bit was sarcasm, but if not, good luck with it. I was just pushed a little to far by our Dodge driving friend, who can't recognize a Neon engine when he sees one...thats all.

that's cool, just don't get too worked up about it. Even if you weren't worked up about it, you spent alot of time replying... Just remember, you don't have to prove anything to anyone. Let anyone think what they want, sometime in the future, they will find out the truth. It's just if you try to prove people wrong here... most of the time, it will never be settled.

Oh, and the insomnia thing, unfortunately I haven't slept in about 6 days.

Neon's suck balls. I don't know anything about them. They are probably made by mitsubishi anyway like a lot of stuff in the 80's were. But my daytona isn't a mitsu, pure mopar. I'd never drive an N/A 4 banger, it's tuff enough driving a turbo one because I want more power. But that will come with mods and tuning.
I was never arguing with you whether it was a 4G63 or a 420a, I was saying that the ''official'' site said that it was. I can clearly see the NT header. Also the other thing I was arguing with you was about that pic you posted wasn't the actual one.

Fair enough. As for turbo 4s and needing more power....thats all part of the fun of tuning/modding :) Its nice to break all four tires loose next to a big old V8.

Yeah I agree. Modding is fun, and the results are even more fun :bigthumb:

I'd never do that! Probably break the transfer case in half! Atleast snap the chain. I just had new splines put on my driveshaft, so they shouldn't break. I'm still NOT gonna try it though:wink:

Oh you were talking about your car, I was talking about my 5000 pound truck thats a little different. Getting 35'' tires to smoke takes a good bit of power, especially getting 4 of them to spin. Altleast 3 anyway, I have a posi rear but the front is open.

So what you are trying to bullshit me with is, you light up all four tires in 2nd gaer?

RockinWRX
06-26-2003, 02:25 AM
And my question is , what size turbo do you have. And what sucky tires do you have that you can do that in 2nd gear. Don't lie to us now , we've seen pics of your car  I was putting 300+ HP on the ground and couldn't do that , of course I had some sticky Firehawk tires , but.........still. Are you on the highway when you can do this? I think at normal street speeds , the most I could manage was a chirp. I could light 'em all up in 1st gear EZ enough , but not 2nd.

LandoAWD
06-26-2003, 11:07 AM
Hankook Ventus (may have spelled Hankook wrong) and a 20g. YES I can light them up, but its not like I sit there and spin and not move forward. Think gas, screeeech, gone. FWIW, the tires flat spot like hell in cold weather and take FOREVER to warm up.

Edit: Forgot about the ST sway bars, front and rear strut bars, and STIFF AGXs with H&R sports :)

20G's take a little bit of time to spool up.This is not a V8 motor with instant "PUNCH" we are talking about. If you had NO cat and a 3" turbo-back exhaust , it would still not be fully spooled til about 3500 rpm. Also the stock MAF shoulda been overrun long ago. Running a 20G properly pretty much requires a 2G MAF , or a VPC , or VERY low boost pressures , or an MAFT. Heck , I was overrunning my MAF with just the stock 14B at 18 psi.....
What have you done as far as fuel mods goes?

And you need to get rid of that pic in your gallery showing the stock TD05 , I was about ready to call :bs: on you.............til I saw the other pic.....:bloated:

LandoAWD
06-26-2003, 04:36 PM
Full boost under 3500..but not far. No cat. Modified MAF (Blaha, installed and tuned by the man himself. Fuel mods: SAFC, 550s (upgrading to 660s VERY soon), Walbro 255hp, AFPR form Charged Air (don't buy from them).:bigthumb:

Edit: If you are referring to the smoke and fire pic....thats just a photoshop. It is by no means as dramatic as that...very little smoke, thin tread marks on road.

I'm talking about the underhood shots. One shows the 14B , and another shows the 20G and the Tial.......:bigthumb:
