Hello to all,
I have two items to ask. One is I just bought a new 08' Chevy Impala SS and it's a nice beautiful car it is BUT after a month my borther noticed the dealership had removed the sign. What happened to POWER CHEVROLET in South Bay????? They just up and closed and didn't tell me or send me a letter in any way that they're closing. I now have to look for another dealership to get me services done under the warranty. Anyone know what happened???
Item two is for this new car is their anything I need to look at or be aware about????? Any maintenance issues I need to worry about???
Thanks,

As part of the GM bankruptcy proceedings , many dealerships were closed . I guess Power Chevrolet was one of them ? As for maintenance , go by the list in your owners manual and you should be fine !

I guess some people don't follow the world wide depression were in, that'S on the news every minute of the day....
GM went bankrupt,,,they had tooooo many dealerships...so obama said if you want the cash its time to tighten that belt...
some call it [GM] OBAMA MOTORS....
If you have the time as mentioned read the service /owners manual and if you have any warrantee issues call GM,,,or locate a GM dealership in your area...

hello to all,
Just talked to a buddy here at work and he told me that regardless of the brand of GM car/truck they all service each others cars so I guess I'll take mine to the Cadillac dealership for service. Issue solved. I still wish they sent me a letter though.
Thanks for your e-mails,

As far as any issues to watch out for. the ISS will probably eventually need to be replaced unless they started putting the new ones in for 2008. But for the 2006 and 2007's it was pretty much a matter of when not if it was going to start acting up. Also some trannys have went prematurely, not exactly up to the task of that LS4. Although alot of the problems seemed to be with 2006's.

jtav2002,
Thanks for your reply. I don't know what the ISS is??? Exactly what is it??? Additionally I didn't know some tranny's have gone south. I thought they were considered heavy duty types.

ISS is the intermediate steering shaft , a common problem on many GM products . For more info on the ISS problem , put the term into the search function at the top of the forum and you'll get lots of past threads on the subject .

While the tranny is technically labeled as HD, take that with a grain of salt. There are a couple minor differences from the standard 4t65e. It's essentially the same as the transmission used with L67 supercharged cars(04-05 Impala SS, Grand Prix GTP, etc.) and it's making substantially more horsepower and torque then those cars. Again most of the problems I have heard with 2006 cars. Luckily I had no problems with mine in the 2 years and 28,000 miles I had mine.
