I have a 2000 Impala LS with the 3.8L V6. The other day it threw a P0336 code (crankshaft position sensor). The car seems to run fine. What should I start with to try and fix this issue?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Connections to the cps and ign control module from the cps.

I'll check these connections. Thank you.
Is this a serious issue, or is it hard to tell?
I mean, if the connections look good can I tell if it is the CPS? And if so, how hard is it to change that?

the cps can be measured with an OHM meter...you have an intermittent problem...so after you see the wiring/connector pins are good,,,,remove sensor and inspect for tip contamination,,,if clean just replace,,,if dirty with metal sludge clean and re-test...
I have found heat causes these to output lower signal volts..even open internally,,,,no good when this happens on a hywy..

I'll check the connections. If the sensor does need to be changed, how difficult of a task is that?
