Check engine light came on today on my 03 Impala 3.8 LS, had it scanned and said it was random misfire, no specific cylinder indicated. Checked the wires and plugs and found two plugs very loose. Is this common? Thanks in advance for any advice.

plugs can loosen,,,,use of a torque wrench is recommended when installing,,,15ft lbs is the usual torque....
sometimes carbon gets on the threads,,,this can give the installer a false sense of sercurity,,,,of tightness..
in the old days excessive pinging will[did] cause this problem...
