New BCM, Dead Battery

Hi All,

I just had my BCM replaced on my 2002 Impala LS, 287k. I was out of town over the 4th of July weekend and I had this replaced and programmed just before I left. After being back I noticed that the battery is drained completely dead overnight. It's so dead that the power locks on the remote won't even work. Has anyone had this issue before or have any idea what could be causing the drainage on the battery? The BCM is a reman from Rockautoparts.com and I just sent the original back for the core charge so I can't plug the old one back in to see if it does the same thing. Any ideas???

Thanks!

first re-charge the battery with a charger not the alternator. then see if you left some things on....

aftermarket radio/amp/alarm are usually the cause....
then it could be the interior lights stayed on....

if all this comes up with no cause you will need to place an ampmeter in series with the battery to see what the OFF battery drain is..

the amperage should be around 50-200ma's...if it is above this amount pull fuses to locate circuit sucking the battery dry..

My first question is did you buy the correct BCM for your car? If you did then what to do in this quote should be done.

I know it's been a very long time since this was started by me but I finally got this car completed with the LIM gasket job and other small items (I don't have a lot of extra time). Anyways, I unplugged the fuses that dealt with the BCM and a few days later, it started just fine. I ordered a brand new AC Delco BCM from Advance Auto ($200) and got it programmed by the dealer and the car has been fine ever since. The remanufactured one I bought from Rock Auto was the culprit. I guess you get what you pay for!!

I just wanted to follow up with what I found out about this.

Thanks.

What made you replace the BCM in the first place? I am just wondering. I have some issues with my 2003 3.8 and wonder If I possibly need to replace. How did you get it programmed? did you take the whole car to the dealership?

This is the name of my original thread and what was happening that made me replace the BCM in the first place.

2002 Impala LS Light Show (BCM)

Copy and paste that title in the search area on this website and it'll bring it to you.

Thanks,
