I have a 2001 Windstar with a 3.8 engine and I noticed that there is a bad leak associated with pipe about four inches long that comes out of the engine and connects to a hose that goes into the firewall. The pipe appears to be rusted and is located just above the thermostat housing and slightly closer to the firewall. The pipe connects to the hose with some time clip while it appears to go directly into the engine. I would like to know what this pipe is called and how one would replace it. Thanks

I do not know the proper name for this.....but here is a link to a picture of what I think you are talking about......on my '96 3.8L windstar

This is taken with the lower intake manifold off of the motor......the thermostat housing, where the upper radiator hose connects is what you see next to it in the picture.
I have no idea of how this part installs into the lower intake manifold.
What I advise you to do is to go to your local FORD dealership parts department, they have the BEST parts breakdown that I have seen.
Looking at the new part should tell you how it installs......if it has threads.....it threads into the lower intake manifold.......if it does not.....it would be pressed in (I hope not).
