Hello-
Subject vehicle: '99 SE 3.8L. I'm trying to locate the dropping resistor on the referenced vehicle. The OM and Haynes manual reference the resistor and it's shown in the wiring schematic - but I've been unable to locate it.
What I can tell you is where it's NOT located. It is NOT located in the area of the passenger side headlight assembly that has been well documented on this forum for vehicle year '96. Further - it is NOT located in the area of the left headlight assembly as well.
Does anybody know (for sure) where the dropping resistor is located on a post '98 Windstar.
My thank in advance-
Glenn

Hello-
After further research - and putting together clues from different threads - I was able to locate the elusive dropping resistor for the cooling fan.
I believe this info is good for '99 right up to and including Freestars - I'm not sure this also applies to the '98 model year.
So- if you remove the left front headlight assembly - and look into the hole that the parking light / directional signal socket is threaded through - you will see the resistor mounted to the inner fender wall. Access is attained by loosening the plastic fender well liner. Hope this helps out
Good Luck-
Glenn
