I have a 2006 Impala LT with automatic headlights. They are on all the time even during the day. The car does not have daytime running lights i believe. From looking at other Impalas around time I notice most do not have headlights on.
Any thoughts on this?

On my 2000 impala, the DRL's are the low beams. So it looks like the low beam headlights are on, but they are in fact the DRL's.
Not sure about your newer model.

Are ALL the lights on, including the tail lights and the side marker lights?
If yes, there may be something wrong with the lightswitch, or it may have an aftermarket daytime running light setup.
If it is just the low-beam lights and nothing else, then you have factory daytime running lights (DRL's)
FWIW factory DRL systems use a reduced-wattage system and are dimmer than the regular headlights. The low-beams, on DRL setting use just 25 watts instead of the full 55-60 watts.
Do your lights look dim, or have full brightness?

Just another FWIW: 2000 - 2004 Impala DRL are The highbeams running @ 50% wattage, and 05's are the low beams, Not sure if they drop wattage or not. 2006+ is the low beams.

Yea as you've concluded you have DRL's. You can turn them off by flicking your headlight switch over to the left. Or eliminate them altogether by removing the DRL fuse in the engine compartment fuse box, this has no effect on the automatic headlights.
