Cowling Hold-Down Clips ... part numbers.

Print this post out and add to your shop manual ... or copy part numbers (below) into your maintenance records. If you own your Winny long enough, you will need them! The "cowling hold-down clips" are inserted into shaped body metal holes about two inches in front of the leading edge of the windschield. They are the only significant fasteners for the cowling ... and over time, with usage, they will break and need to be replaced.

And when you go to Ford for replacement parts ... the parts guy ain't gonna be able to find them! Don't know why ... has to do with how the parts are catalogued. Luckily I found a parts guy who accepted the "challenge" and found them for me ... and here they are:

XF2Z-1602316-BB One (RH) retainer. One required.

XF2Z-1602317-AA. One (LH) retainer. One required.

W713088-S300. Center clips. IIRC, about 6 required for a full set.

These numbers were for my '99 and I think they are universal ... for all year models. Be sure to check for year application ... but these numbers should be a good "starting point" no matter what year yours is.

Wow! Good info- thanks! My left hold-down clip broke the first time I removed mine! Now I have no excuse...
