Out of the box with some C/F (SMS) accents and some artistic license on the color. It is blue, not black. I used the Wolf Dark Blue Tamiya spray. I also made new “screen” decals for the rear “windows”. The kit supplies them in silver, but I wanted to have them in black. The kit fits together exceptionally well… - Mark

No offense koksik, but by reviewing your other posts, it appears you have unofficially appointed yourself to be a critic of other peoples work. Might I suggest you spend more time honing your already better than average skills than pointing out the shortcomings of other peoples builds.
Not everyone is asking for your criticism. And after looking at your RX-8 for example, I could critique your workmanship in a negative perspective too. But I won’t, you didn’t ask for my opinion. Besides, I suspect you wouldn’t take criticism well either.
This Porsche was built in the rare few hours spread over a few months I had to spare as a relaxing way to enjoy a hobby.
I did not build this to please anyone but myself, and I did enjoy building it. And it’s not as if I don’t know how or have the skills to build a model as well as you apparently think I should. (Do you really think I am unaware of the the thickness of the paint, or it's other shortcomings?)
What ever happened to the old adage, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything.”?

Scale -master - You waiting for only positive coments?? Sorry, but I'm honest. I don't like people who said: " ooo beatifull car" - and this car looks terrible. ( I don't say that Your's model is bad. )
I say that looks clean - so that is a positive. I only say that is too much paint, and not that this is a s... job.... Is clean, shine is very nice, "mirror effect" paint, interior clean as well. But be honest with me and another modeler's from forum - Is too much paint on body or no?
I don't say that I'm perfect modeler, everyone make some mistake's - me too. With next model I trying get my skills on next, highest level. And You know why? I get a lot of critique. And now I only can thanks to all guys, from whitch I get coments - this good and this bad or sometimes very bad. They open my eyes on my model from different way if Yu know what i'm talking about.
If I see smething wrong - I say it - thats for good of modeler - He can fix that in next model kit. .
If You see something wrong in my model - say it, then I look on this, meybe next time I must spend more time on this detail
Btw - if You put pics on forum, that You agree received coments - good and bad as well
Sorry for my bad english. I hope You understand everything..

I used a military color in the Tamiya enamel line, Desert Yellow for the main color. The dark blue is Testors Dark Sea Blue, also an enamel. The silver is the Mica Silver Tamiya spray lacquer with TS-13 Clear on top.
If you plan to use the optional interior scheme as called out in the instructions, I’d suggest that you scribe the two color break lines on the bolsters into the seats prior to painting to make the task easier…

Oh, wow, can't take a bit of criticism are you?
People say what they want to say, and if they don't like something about your model, tough.

I think the problem is that we all communicate without facing each other directly over Internet, not to mention many of us write/read other than English as their primary language.
It is a great place to communicate, but sometimes you never know someone might get offended from something that was not intentional or something gets lost in translation from the writing.
Having said that, the car looks good and the interior color combo looks so natural to look at!
I do agree that the paint layer was thicker than what I would like, but who says thicker paint is bad things to have? :)
Some says they wash the panel lines all the time and some swears that panel lines make things out of scale. Who is to say who is right and who is wrong?
We just need to respect the opinions, that's all.

First of all, i must say its definitely a stunning build there. Great colour choice and finish. Beauty! Yes, paint is a little thick but i'm sure its much better than those who creates DEEP panel lines that they cant even paint it properly.
Well then, i do feel that a little criticism is good for improvements, and anybody should appreciate that. Its just that sometimes some people may put it too straightforward that its hard to swallow. So therefore its a two way thingy. On one side, they can try to criticise and comment more skillfully while the other should accept it gentlemanly. Btw, this view of mine is not to offend anybody but just to share my piece of mind. :)

What ever happened to the old adage, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything.”?If you don't want people to comment on your builds, there is a simple solution to that: stop sending them here.
Sending pictures of your builds here IS asking for other people's opinion. There's already way too much users giving positive comments about any build, no matter how bad. The fact that someone has the brain to point out the shortcomings too, is nothing bad IMO.
Anyway, your model looks great. The paint doesn't bother me at all.

Don't know how I missed this thread. The red brakes go well with your chosen body colour. It's a shame the paint is so thick though. But aside from that, the finish is as smooth as a mirror. The carbon fibre is a nice touch. Did you leave the wheels with the chrome from the kit?

I'm really surprised at a few of the comments by a few builders here.
I don't think any one should have to question Marks skills if they take the time to see the work he has done.
As to critiques, criticisms and comments. Certainly, there are much more tactful ways to CONSTRUCTIVELY critique someones work. I hardly post here since most folks have no tact. Most all builders know the fault of there model. I enjoy building for myself as well and have fun overcoming the challenges faced with some kits. Half that fun is showing the work when done and hoping someone can learn from it or you may learn from it as well. Again, tact is the order of the day.
With that said, I also understand that this is a modeling community derived of all walks of life from all over the world. Language barriers are tough for sure. All the same I think tact can be had here too. OF course a thicker skin is something I've learned to get from posting on these sites.
We also have to remember that photo's cannot always justify how good or bad a model may be.
We all come here to share our work and have the same goals. In the end we all try to help, but I think we just need to be better at tact and being a bit more constructive versus just blatantly pointing out the inaccuracies.
Anyway, I like Mark's Porsche, simply because I think it is one of the best Porsche designs. Mark's work at CF is perfect and looks natural. I also like the color, something that should have been a choice direct from Porsche. Interior, wheels, brakes and body color all accent each other. I noticed it's a little thick on the front nose, but that's the only place I can see thickness at all. Of course the photo's could be deceiving as well. I can only hope that my GT comes out as well.
Mark, thanks for sharing.

Part of the problem is this forum is worldwide, and there are some top-notch models on this site.So the critics come out in force if its not up to par.(or their opinion anyway).Speaking personally i love when when i get criticism from this forum as i use it to further along my skills. You have to bring your"a-game" when you post on this site. All that being said its a very clean build. The interior is really clean.

I am currently working on the same model so it is nice to see what other people have done right out of the box. I have two questions and one small comment on some of the 'discussions' that are happening.
Q1. I tried the Tamiya recommendation on the terracotta, but the color looks like something an animal threw up, so thats out. Does anyone have any ideas to get a better version of that color
Q2. Any particular decals you used on the carbon fiber?
Modeling should be for fun, that is the whole point. If you want an exact replica, go talk to Porsche, $1M might get you a GT. Otherwise these are supposed to be scale replicas and its supposed to be a hobby.
I like the model, it looks nice and I like the color scheme. Scale Detail likes it otherwise he would not have put it on the forum, so the customer is happy as well. A word to the wise for some, there is a old saying. If you cannot say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

The finish on the wheels is just what came from the kit. The metalized finish looked a little “iffy” while they were on the sprue, mostly around the edges of the rims, but being a “simpler build” I went ahead and used them just to finish it quickly. I must admit, once the tires were installed they looked more than adequate for this build.
As far as the recommended Terracotta for the interior, the real ones I’ve seen in person do have an orangy-red tone in the brown to my eye. So the recommendation seems plausible and likely accurate, but then I went the route I did with colors because I didn’t care for the factory offered choices…
I guess instead of the abbreviation of SMS I should have been clearer on the ScaleMotorSport brand of carbon fiber decals I used. To be specific, the Hi Def C/F in 1/20 and 1/24 scales on this model. These Hi Def decals are recent additions (within the last few years) to the already established great line of SMS material pattern decals. I prefer them for most C/F applications now… - Mark
