spark plugs

2002 windstar changing spark plugs i known sopse to use APP 105 autolite,can i use motorcraft SP-486 its finewire platinum plug ,dont kow if its better then double platinum,cant find the app106, SP-486 im told is better,

RockAuto lists the Motorcraft SP-486 for the 2002 windstar, although they list a lot of other plugs that I would not use.

The Windstar calls for double platinumn plugs.....meaning that there is platinumn enhancement on BOTH the center electrode and the ground tab.
The reason for this is that they use a positive spark on one side of the motor and a negative spark on the other.
This causes the center electrode to wear faster on one side of the motor and the ground tab to wear faster on the other side of the motor.

I have used both AutoLite and Motorcraft brands of the double platinumn plugs with success.

They will wear more evenly and last a long time.
You should not need to worry about spark plugs for well over 50K miles.
The correct spark plugs are rated for 100K miles....

replace the plugs and wires and the p171,174 code repair ,now runs much better more power and smoother engine,next change tran fluid and brakes,anybody use R1 Concepts' Eline Performance Brake ,or just go with stock rotor
