AFTER CRUISING THE VAN MOST OF THE DAY IT WILL HAVE A HIGH RPM around 2.5k when placed in park. It does not diesel when turned off, any idea's what might cause this?

that is a very excessively high idle. I have had off and on again problems with mildly high idle (1.5k). Normally it should be idling around 650-750 on drive and at rest at a stop light. I've reset the TPS sensor a couple of times and it seems to have help. Your Traction control light will come on and eventually your CEL will come on as well.
I also recently had to replace the battery and perhaps the battery was so weak that the PCM had trouble remembering all the settings etc. Not sure about this one.
but I need to give it some time to see if the symptoms return for me. it sounds like you might have a leak of some sort that is making the engine suck in a lot of air.
