II John 10 does not mention islam specifically, but it DOES refer to concepts followed by islam.

Well, though I agree, I must point out that the original Gospel was written by John prior to the year 100. Islam came out in the 1400s, and the King James version of the Bible came out somewhat later.

So this leads to the conclusions that John could not have known about Islam, and that the Bible was edited after the start of Islam to reflect the current point of view.

Even if he didn't know about Islam it could be prophetic.
Many writers of the bible wrote things they didn't know or understand through prophecy in the spirit of God.
As GH points out, the principles are written there just the same.

I've read a good portion of the Koran (so far) and this is completely true. Presented in a humorous way, but true,

And for all defenders of islamization of this great nation....KISS MY ASS!!

I'm totally against the islamization of the country, and the world and believe that the Crusaders had the right idea. For the most part it is a violent religion that recruits through fear. Although there very well may be peaceful Muslims, we cannot know for sure if they are or not.

Prophecy? Fair enough. However I looked up the verses that were mentioned, and I cannot understand how the conclusion is being drawn. Perhaps I looked in the wrong place, or the wrong version of the King James Bible?

There ARE several versions of it, all different in many parts....and this is the problem I have with any ancient text that has been copied over and over again -- that it is far, far, from the original. We've all played the game where you sit in a circle and whisper in the next person's ear -- then by the time it gets back to you it is completely different. Same principle.

I think the true problem is that most religions are distorted by miss guided individuals. Religion is a easy tool to control individuals, especially when it is blasted in there heads from child hood. This debate of religion goes back a few thousand years. Christians and muslims have been fighting each other for ever. It is sad that people that have power warp the word of god (anyones god) to there liking. It happens with christians to, just go down to the bible belt and you will see what I am talking about. This issue will never be resolved on either side because you will always have extremist and they will always blow things out of porportian. The real losers are all of US caught in the middle. That includes all the good muslims and good christians. If we could only get rid of the extremists. Either that or we should all follow Buddah, they seem to have a good thing going - You don't see them getting caught in the middle of all this BS!! :evillol:

1John: 4"15 "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he in God"

1 John 5:10 : "He that believeth on the Son of God hath this witness in himself he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son"

I take it the scriptures above are what you read. Fred have you ever done any thorough study of HOW the bible was preserved and copied and translated over the centuries? As far as the O.T. goes, the Hebrews (scribes) had very strict rules to follow when copying O.T. text.
Here are a few:

"Each line on a new page had to be the exact same as the line on the old page. If the first line on the original page had nine words, the first line on the copy page had to have nine words.
After a page was copied, the number of letters on that page was counted and compared with the original.
After a page was copied, each letter was counted and compared with the original. After a page was copied, someone would check to see what the middle letter was on the copy and the original."

http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/how-was-old-testament-preserved.html

Pages would be thrown out for one error, more than two errors in a book, the entire copy of the book was thrown out and they had to start over.

As for the New testament, Here is a quote of one bible scholar:

"The New Testament is constantly under attack and its reliability and accuracy are often contested by critics. But, if the critics want to disregard the New Testament, then they must also disregard other ancient writings by Plato, Aristotle, and Homer. This is because the New Testament documents are better-preserved and more numerous than any other ancient writings. Because they are so numerous, they can be cross checked for accuracy... and they are very consistent.
There are presently 5,686 Greek manuscripts in existence today for the New Testament. If we were to compare the number of New Testament manuscripts to other ancient writings, we find that the New Testament manuscripts far outweigh the others in quantity."

http://carm.org/manuscript-evidence

If the above is accurate there is pretty sound evidence we have accurate translations of the scriptures today.

So it is a matter of faith, whether you choose to believe what is written in 1 John or not. We Christians by faith believe it is true. If we are right, then as famlycar and gladhatter say, those verses show the doctrine of Islam to be false, and an offense to the true God because they deny Christ is Gods Son.
Furthermore, there is all the current evidence by their actions that they are a very violent, hate-filled religion that wants to take over the world by force. Quite the opposite of the doctrine of Christianity and the actions of Christians.
Muslims who aren't caught up in committing violent acts like the terrorists are just very misguided and deceived about the truth of the Musilm religion.

I don't know if this link will work or not. (http://www.facebook.com/gladhatter?v=wall&story_fbid=159412320736487&ref=notif&notif_t=share_comment#!/video/?id=100001225577502) There are some videos you may want to skip as it is hard so "unsee" them after viewing. The point is clear though.
