Hello to all,

This year I'm thinking on buying an Impala with a V-6 engie so I wondered about the smallest one. Is it pretty peppy for most driving situations? It'll be a travel car too going to my favorite local Arizonia.

What liter size is the smallest version?

What kind of MPG can I get?

You know that kinda of stuff.

Stick with the Buick 231 V-6 and you'll have better service over the long term. Yes, there is plenty of power for most driving situations. Moderate highway driving can net you close to 30 MPG.

The new Impala's come standard with a 3.5 v-6. There is also a 3.9 v-6 that is used in the LTZ and the LT2 or you can get a v-8 in the SS.
You will have plenty of power with the standard engine. I doubt you will be disappointed.

thank you both for your swift replies. I plan to wait until the ladder half of the calendar year and make my final decision then. The 3.5 liter appears very promising.

my wife bought a 2007 malibu it sais v-6 on the side tho and it's a four cyl. what i'm getting at that she and her sister found it i never knew she was buying it until she pulled up in it and i went for a drive and i could hear the rack popping so i went to where she bought it and they said they all do that my ass. well the place she bought it told me that he could put me in another malibu and it would do the same thing needless to say they never had another one there but he said even his new impalla does the same thing and no ride there either and he had the car there. so i told them no way were keeping that car so she found a nice suv there she would have had it but she said i don't have time now. so rack is still popping and i told her when the rack gets worse i was not going to work on it. so i'm telling you to make sure you don't get the same thing. but it is a good running car and looks nice so you may want to check out if theres a recall on them.....good luck...oh and when she bought it only had 49000 mls on it.

Scrapper, I am not sure what the steering has to do with the original question but I think your 2007 Malibu is still under warranty and should go back to the dealer.
