Looks like my 95 Winny with a 3.8 got a DPFE code. I know this is an easy fix, but is this part only available at the dealer? My search at the Parts America sight did not come up with a part, so I suspect the dealer maybe my only resource.

Also, what is the proper way to detect for a vacuum leak? (P0171 and P0174)
I heard of the method of using a spray to make the engine hesitate, but what do I use?

To answer my own post, I did some additional searching and it seems all my DTCs maybe related to the DPFE.

SO. does anyone know who carries aftermarket plastic replacement units (cheap) real cheap?

I have used propane before to find a vac leak. I spray a little around the area where the leak maybe at. If the engine starts to run better than there is my leak.
Also check the vac lines to the DPFE sensor.. Advanced auto had one for a Ford F150. So I don't see why they would not carry it.. You may need to look under body electrical. Or emissions. They hide these things in other parts areas..On there parts sites. I don't think they know how to classify it..

be wary of the cheap aftermarket parts. I have read a number of posts that claim those DPFEs were not good and the code remained. all the posts claimed that after they forked over the money to get the dealer part, everything was fine. I would rethink your desire to purchase the cheapest one out there.

That is true about sensors for these fords.. I did however replaced one on an F150 and it worked.. So not sure why on some fords they will and others they won't..

A Carquest DPFE cleared all the codes related to the DPFE, probably pure luck though.

This is the least of my problems though.

I just lost a head gasket, so I got some work to do.

This van is not a daily driver anymore, so wear and tear will now come to a slow crawl.

The Winny was just replace with an 05 Escape, and know I am on an Escape learning journey.
