Hey Guys/Gals
I've been dealing with the PO171/174 codes for near 3 years now,I have basically resorted to clearing the computer and going for an inspection right after the codes were cleared.
Well this didn't work any more and after 3 intake gaskets and numerous other fix's I have had it.
The last try was a MAf sensor and IAC motor.Well the aftermarket IAC made the car run so bad it ended up in the local shop.
Turns out replacement IAC was no good but they also discovered the upper intake gasket was again leaking again.
When it was all taken apart they discovered the lower half of the upper intake was cracked and sucking air.
So I had them replace the lower 1/2 of the plenum along with the 4th intake gasket set.
Got the car back and she was running great, drove her for 5 miles and the CEL came back on,turned her around parked her back at the shop. The next morning they checked her out and she threw a code for the DPFE sensor which I had changed about a year ago but used a cheap aftermarket part.So while I was working I stopped at a Ford dealer and picked up a OEM DPFE sensor.Stopped at the shop and swapped the senor, they wanted to clear the codes but I said no.If it is fixed the CEL should clear itself.Well after only 2 short drive cycles the CEL has gone out and it has been about a month now and the van is running good but still a pig on fuel.

Shes getting 10.5mpg city and I haven't had a chance to check her out for highway mileage but she used to do almost 20mpg highway.
This is also with the reformulated winter blend gas,so I guess I should not complain too bad
