I am having some major issues and need some help.. Here at the problems..
I have a Ford windstar.. 1995 3.0L. It has been loosing water.. Not sure where..
We were gradually having to add water to it.. It would last for several months between addings.. Now it is about every other day..
Saturday we decided to check a few things after the Radiator started leaking..
Changed the Thermostat, water pump.. Filled the radiator back up with coolant and water.. Husband drove it around to warm it up and seemed to be fine.. Checked water and it was Full..
Started the van this morning 5 minutes before time to take my girls to school and noticed the radiator leaking again.. appears to be a small hole.. Had to take the chance driving it..
When I was returning back home I noticed that the van was having a hard time idiling.. Made it home.. WHOO HOO!!
As soon as I pulled in the drive I popped the hood.. Noticed that the entire motor was covered in water.. It sprayed/leaked everywhere.. Looked at the over fill jug.. Water still in it.. Radiator cap was ICE COLD.. No water or coolant in the radiator.. Where in the world could this be going??? Any help would be great appreciated..
Thanks so much, Kelly

If the leak is in the radiator......the best solution is to replace it......they have alluminum fins with plastic side tanks.
You might be able to get lucky with some Barr's stop leak....which is a good product.....add....then add coolant......as the 2nd best....but replacement would be best.
Check to make certain that it is not leaking from a hose or from the drain...which is located at the bottom, driver's side....rear side of the radiator.
At this point (I have a '96) if the hoses are original....they would need a good looking at.
It is not unusual for the radiator to leak...and not draw coolant in from the overflow tank.......if the radiator gets air in from another source.....then it will not draw from the tank.

Welcome to AFs!
First off...the first thing I would do is to refill the rad start the van add more until the system doesn't take any more. As you're filling keep an eye open for leaks.
Then start the van and watch for leaks. It might not take too long to find it.
The ther solution would be to take it in to a garage who has a collant PSI tester.
BTW...Be careful about running the van w/o coolant, alum engines don't take very kind to overheating.

Thanks so much for the information...
Update on problems....
We took another look at it last night.. Found that the fan switch isn't working on low for the van to cool the motor..
Drove it this morning again... This time.. No leaks as my husband added K&W to seal any leaks.. Must have worked for that, but now different problems..
1. Temp hand does not move past the cold mark.. Even after running for about 20 minutes..
2. Over fill jug is empty on water.. Was full yesterday and last night.. Now dry..
3. Radiator cap is Ice Cold again today...
Being honest.. I would like to run it off the closest bluff and forget about it.. :banghead:
Again thanks so much on the information.. I knew I would get some help here..
Thanks again.... Kelly

Thanks so much for all the responses.. I think we finally have it fixed.. The main censor that controlls the fan speed is out.. It wouldn't work on Low.. I hope it is fixed.. Thanks again ALL...
