2000 Windstar not responsive when first started

After the car has been sitting a while, when step on the accelerator to go (in drive), there is no movement for like a second or two. Note that this is getting progressively worse. I forst noticed it when it was about 1/2 sec delay. Once the car moves, it never happens again. FWIW, I have a transmission cooler installed (aftermarket) but that went on over a year ago. Still, maybe that has something to do with it. I just want to catch something here if there's something to catch. Thanks guys...

very simple question but have you checked your trans fluid level? I know that the dip stick sometimes shows "full" but I've heard that this can be misleading. If you do a search on this topic I think it'll show up. I'd add a little if the level is at full or below.
