I'm posting this so that next time you see a Yugo you'll know which model it was that passed you on the highway!

Yugo GV: 1985-1989 Base model, 1100cc 55hp engine.
Yugo GV+ 1990-1991 revised GV, Bosch EFI 1300cc 67hp engine. Notes: FAST!
Yugo GVL/GVS 1987-89 trim and option packages, GV upgrade - distinguishable from GV by special stripes on outside and velour seats.
Yugo GVX: 1988 sport model, 1300cc 61hp engine. Notes: Rare, only 1500 imported, distinguished by ground effects and fog lamps up front.
Cabrio: super super rare!

Scoring chart.
GV: 25 points
GV+: 50 points
GVL/GVS: 50 points
GVX: 100 points
Cabrio: 100,000 points!

Can't say I share your Yugo enthusiasm for the most part, but thanks for that model guide...I can always use more car info :)

BTW, how many Cabrio's did make it over here? I want one :D

Every estimate I've heard puts the number of cabrio models imported below the 100 mark. I know of a couple people who own these rare cars.

The numbers I've heard for the Cabrio are around 70. I've found three for sale so far in my search ranging from $1,500 (needed some exclusively Cabrio parts replaced, had an R title) to $12,000.

The highest number I've heard was 85. But 70 doesn't sound too low to be realistic. The cabiro was (strangely) only sold from east coast dealers - imagine how much more succesful they'd have been if they sold them in California!

I bought a red and silver GVX in 1988. Alloy wheels, stripes inside and out and ground effects. I drove it to work when I operated Jackson Dragway in Tennessee and everyone loved seeing it run up and down the track during setups. 11.80 in the 1/8 Made my eyes water! (when I had my head out the window) Fun Car, wish I had it now.

I am new to forums so I hope I am doing this right. I came across this forum in my 'long' search for info on my '90 yugo cabrio convertible. When I bought it in 1992, I was told there were only 40 in the country. I am not sure of the accuracy on that. I also heard that the number of the car coming off the line is under the hood. Mine says 7. Anyone know anything about this?

Go to Yahoo Groups, and find the Yugo related groups there, there are many people on these groups who know alot more about the cabrio than I do, and may be able to help you find out what you want to know about your rare car.
