I need some help in how to take out the water pump from a ford wind star 2001 v6 side engine, I was told that i needed to lift the engine up about 3" in order to take the water pump out.

I need some help in how to take out the water pump from a ford wind star 2001 v6 side engine, I was told that i needed to lift the engine up about 3" in order to take the water pump out.
You shoud get a Haynes Repair manual (Ford Windstar). A lot of informations are available, procedure, torque specification etc. Water pump replacement on this Ford model is not an easy job and also time consuming ( 1 day job or so) For your question, yes you have to lift the engine to remove the water pump pulley, before unscrew it from the front cover (timing cover). You can look to this link (Autozone repair section) however model year 95-98 only are available. Roughtly the same for 1999 and late models (3.8 engine) but with some differences.
