NOW is the time to prepare for winter

For those of us in the wintery north, NOW is the time to be getting to the tune up of our vehicle to prevent those problems when it gets cold and nasty.

This would include, battery, spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, antifreeze, tires, etc....etc.

This usually involves a certain amount of expense (like tires and parts) so don't put it off until the weather hits......schedule it into your budget NOW.

None of us like being stranded out in the cold and nasty weather.......or working on our cars in the same.

I would like to know how many of the Windstar forum regulars do live in a cold area?

I live about 45 mts SW of MPLS MN. Yes it does get cold here.

I already flushed the radiator this summer, and Nov 1st I'll change the oil/filter with syn 5w/30. Probably rotate the tires before then too. And a wax job.

I live in the South, but like to drive up to Canada, etc ... to see some snow about once a year. I usually stow gloves, shovel ... and snow chains (which I have never had to install ... knock on firewood!) ... and I even carry an aluminum floor jack. I have a full-size spare ... and make sure the spare elevator is well-greased. Snow scrapers. A roll-up (homemade) cover to stick under the wipers for overnight snow. Fresh wiper blades all around. And early-on, fill the windschield spray system with some freeze-resistant fluid ... and make sure its purged thru to all spray nozzles. My survival kit includes water, juice, tins of fish and other foods, flashlights, small tarp, extra car key mounted in hidden place, Garmin GPS, small group of wrenches and tools, extra relays and fuses, jump cables, etc, etc ....

You guys want cold, I live in Ontario, Canada. I've got a list of things to do before the end of October to my wife's 2000 Winnie.

ditto on the Ontario Canada. I'm in Northern Ontario (200 miles north of Toronto). I'm doing some body work, paint tomorrow if the temperature acts the way it should. I have done oil changes in the winter and it's great except that my winter "work" jacket has to be bulky for warmth and usually I can't get my arms into the area where the oil filter is.... OTOH, the bugs aren't bad at all:rofl:
