I purchased a 2000 impala for my daughter. It is having multiple problems. It has been in the shop numerous times for loss of power, hesitating issues. The engine light comes on sporadically. The shop said it was a softcode and they couldnt determine why it was bucking as it was. It only does it once in a while and then it is fine. The mechanic took it for a test drive and it did it twice with him. He said it just completely lost power and he almost went through the windshield. It has stalled only once when it acts up. The shop had it for 4 days straight and were not able to determine what is causing this problem.

Also my daughter informed me that sometimes her blinkers do not work. She read online that others were having the same issue. The only fix so far was to turn the hazards on and off and it would temporarily fix the problem. She tried this and it did work. But then it will happen again. This of course is a major hazard. Any ideas what is happening with this car? It only has 75k on it.

Can't really help you on the power loss problem (If i took a guess, I'd say possibly Catalytic?) But I know what your Blinker problem is.

Your Hazard switch Controls the turn signals. It's probably dying, and gonna have to replace it. Not hard to do, Just have to pull the dash.

Thanks! I have a friend who is going to do the work on it so I will definately tell him. Hopefully it will get replaced this weekend.

As for the bucking/loss of power, we thought it was the CAT as well but the dealership said if it was the CAT it would continue to do it all the time. This only does it randomly. It will act up for a day, then be fine for weeks.

Our 03 Impala had a bad CAT and I remember it barely being able to move. We do have a warranty on it. A 6 month 6k mile warranty that came from the dealer, and then a 3yr 36k bumper to bumper we purchased. Hopefully they will soon find what the problem is. It has been in the shop 4 times so far and twice they kept it for more then 3 days.
