Non Flat Line Headlights available?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if non Flatline Headlights are available for the 2001 Windstar?

I am in Europe and my DoT are insisting that my headlights should shine more to the left on Low Beam! Like old fashioned ones! The OEM lights just lift up and down pointing in the same direction.

Can this be solved by different bulbs?

Thanks for your help.

The low beam on every vehicule in North America is directed to the right and this is easy to see that in a foggy weather where we can see very clearly the beam of the headlights ( low beam) which is directed to the right. Is that correct for European countries?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question.

Before I retired in 1999 my business was importing vehicles from the USA to the UK. In the years prior to this I imported several hundred vehicles. Never did I encounter one like this Windstar which has lights that only go up and down with no sideways movement on Low Beam.

In the UK we do drive on the left side of the road and require lights to Low Beam to the left.

However this is not my issue. I now live in Spain where we drive Left Hand Drive vehicles and drive on the right hand side of the road. Just like the USA and Canada. And require Low Beam to point towards the right kerb.

I am told that vehicle will not pass its import inspection until I change the direction of the Low Beam.

I am also told that such lights are available for the 2001 Winstar but up to now I have only been offered the same lights as I already have.

I think that most sideways Low Beaming lights have raised vertical patterns built into the front glass. My lights are smooth.

There were Windstars made for export to Europe, I believe ... (perhaps no rh drive tho) ... perhaps you can find a different lens assembly thru a local Ford dealership that will suit local needs.

Thank you for your input.

My LHD 2001 Windstar was an export model sold new in the UK.

If you guys all say that your Windstars have low Beams that move right then maybe they used Flat Line on the export models to avoid lights low beaming into the path of oncoming vehicles when driving on the left of the road? In which case regular US / Canadian lights would do for me.

So just to be clear on this could someone with a regular Domestic US / Canadian 2001 /2003 Windstar confirm that their lights low beam to the right and not just up and down.

Thank you in advance,

My 2001 Windstar ( sold in Canada ) is beaming on the right for the low beam and straight in front for the Hight beam light.

Thank you very much Catvents.

This should mean that all I need to do is purchase a pair of US / Canadian domestic headlights.

I will now go ahead and do this.

Many Thanks to All,

Just one final question.

Could someone please confirm the headlight bulb number for the US / Canadian domestic 2001 Windstar.

Mine are HB5 / 9007. This info should be in the Handbook. Otherwise, the passenger side one is very easy to access, the number is on the plastic base.

Thanks again,
