2003 Ford Windstar Right Turn Signal out

My right turn signal and side light isn't working. The blinker inside blinks fast. I changed the bulb and still nothing. The right rear blinker works fine. I took the left bulb with the wiring harness to the right side and connected it and still no power. Checked the fuses and they looked fine. Any suggestions will help. Thank you for your time

Try removing the bulbs from the rear, right side......maybe one of the filaments is shorted to something.......still lighting but pulling a lot of current.
If the rear bulb is lighting up....it is not likely a problem...but worth a try.......
The diagram for my '96 shows a single filament bulb used for the rear turn signals........with a double filament bulb used for the rear brake and side marker lamp.....1 filament for turn signal......another filament (in the same bulb) for the marker light.......but I do not know if this is true for your 2003.

I would also give the wires that you can find a real good look.......try the signal with the rear bulbs back in and the bulbs out of the front right.......does the "blinker" still go fast?
If the blinker is "going fast".....it usually means that there is extra current being drawn in the circuit.
Particularly, if it does it for only one direction, as the same blinker relay is used for both left and right (and hazard).
That is according to the drawing for my '96.

The front turn signal uses a dual filament bulb.....1 filament for the turn signal.....another filament for the parking lights.

If you have a conventional (not digital) dash display.....the signal indicator for each direction is also a light bulb.....which is another bulb that could have a shorted filament.......

The other question is if you have any trailer lighting connector.......if so......DIY wiring there is a possibility.....so I would look that over.

I have seen posts about a rear light module on newer years.....hopefully this is not a problem in your case.......try to eliminate the other "cheap and easy" solutions first.

Checked rear lights and still nothing from the front signal. I have to purchase a test light to check the fuses. Any other ideas or suggestions will be helpfull. Thank you

Unfortunately I can not be confident that the wiring diagram for my '96 is going to match your 2003.
On my '96, the same fuse is used for the front and rear bulb circuit.
The fact that the rear works.....leads me to think that the fuses are good.
However, if there is indeed a rear electronics module on the newer windstars, then you will need input from another member who is familiar with that.
I am only going on memories of past posts.....and do not know what all this rear module would control.

I will say that a fast blink would indicate that something is pulling extra current through the blinker unit.....rather than an open circuit.
This could be a bulb filament or a chafed wire harness.....or DIY trailer towing wiring.

I purchased a test light. The fuses are o.k. I don't have any power from the wires going to the bulb. Someone Help Please

Keep in mind that there should be 12 volts on one terminal (WH/RD) at all times. Since you find no such voltage, there is a problem with:
... fuse #109 (40amp),
...or fuse #22 (15amp),
...or "switched system power relay #1" (all in the box near the battery),
... or wiring to the lamp.

... this is all assuming your system is the same as my '99.

120unce, chance that the 2003 year model is different a little bit. I own a 2001 and the #22 fuse is not use and #109 is only use for model with heating seat, otherwise not use. If you could indicate the Power distribution box description (in the owner manual) he could probably locate the exact number of each fuse to check for his year model. And BTW I had this problem 3 years ago (no voltage on the WT/RD wire ) and you were the one who has suggested that the problem was a cut wire between the FEM and the front light ( my problem was similar but on the left) As no fuses were defect, I have run a wire from the FEM to the light at the front; I was able to locate wich terminal of the FEM to use because I own the Ford Windstar 2001 electrical wiring diagram.

Thanks 12Ounce, do you know I read Rich's post earlier and I didn't even see that it was a straightforward problem with the power feed. I've had a look at the section of the circuit which you're referring to for the '99 - fuse 109 to SSP Relay #1 to fuse #22 to lamps - but on the 2003 model that has indeed changed somewhat - it's been much simplified.

For the 2003 model: In the Battery Junction Box (the box which 12Ounce referred to, near the battery) check for voltage on both sides of Fuse #10 (15A). From there, white/red wires connect directly to the Right Front Park/Turn Lamp and Right Front Side Lamp (no intermediate fuses or relays) so if you have voltage at both sides of the fuse but not arriving on the white/red wires at the lamps then there must be a problem with those white/red connecting wires.

At a suggestion from catvents, I added a note to the "General Winstar Information" post that points out the FEM and REM units in 1999 and newer windstars.
Of course my Alldatadiy subscription for the 1996 year is of no help for these modules......

i have the same problem but mines was caused by a deer running infront of my van 99 windstar and luckily it just busted out my driver side turning signal. i was told by autozone that i needed the whole assembly but thats probably cause its busted just at the turning signal. their price for a new one is around $250, online site around $140, ebay $100.
