My boss is looking to build a motor for his prelude, its a H23...but can he use the H22 block? He can get a good deal on the H22 block...just wondering if there is any difference? Probaly just the oil passage for the vtec soleniod.....If any one know, i allready posted in the prelude section, but as we all know things get answered faster here.....thanx

Well he can use the h22 head on his h23 block. I think its pointless to go the other way around cause it doesn't do anything. Tell him to do h23 v-tec set up. THe fastest all motor car has that set up:)

I meant he's looking for a block to build up, cant find a h23 block cheap but he can find a cheap h22 block.....if you can do the 22 head on a 23 block you should be able to do a 22 block and a 23 head.....right?

Well what ecu hes gonna use? Its pretty pointless either way. Just tell him to go full h22.

well if hes going to go h22 bottom then he might as well get the h22 vtec head, it'd be stupid to use an h23 head on the h22 block. it'd be like putting a ls head on a gsr bottom:confused:

ok let me make this real simple...and please read it so you know what im talking about.
He wants to build this motor, we cant find a cheap h22 block, we cant find a cheap h23 block. will the h23 head fit on a h22 block....no other variations no different ecus...just a simple yes or no will the head fit on the block....we have the h23 motor and can get the h22 block cheap

i've never seen anybody try to put a h23 head on a h22 bottom. theres no point, so i dont know if it can be done or not.

one thing that just came to mind. if you have the whole h23 engine, why dont you just build that, if you put a h23 head on a h22 block i think you might even lose power since your losing that .1 liter you had with the head on the h23.

So he can drive the car while building the motor...

actually ive seen a ls head on a b16 bottom end. some shop over here sold it to some kid and they never told him it had an ls head, so the kid thought he ahd a vtec head

gunmen im not confused about your question, im just confused on why you would put a 23 head on a h22 block, you might even lose power, cauase your losing that .1 litter.

It can be done but u have to block some oil passage and shit. Theres so much stuff to be done but i don't think its worth explainining it.ITspointless gunmen. Trust me on that. Find him a bare h22 head and build it from there.

hmmm..... i dont see why it wouldnt fit..... they should be easily interchanged i believe..... my mechanic told me that the h22 head fits onto the h23 block w/o no additional drilling or oil lines so i dont think doing it the other way would require any additional mods.....

Well ur mechanic is wrong. Its just the same process on doin ls v-tec / b20 v-tec. Like i said before it does fit but its pointless.

i understand that he can get the top and bottom of different motors cheap, but its just retarted. it would prolly work but there might be all sorts of reliability problems.
