The LeBaron was a convertible.

Actually, the LeBaron was offered as a two-door sedan, two-door convertible, and four-door sedan. There was also a four-door wagon, but it was called "Town and Country."

The production version of the car pictured was called the Chrysler E-Class.

You know, I've never even seen a four-door LeBaron? (please post pic if you can) They must not have sold many of them, I guess.
(unless you are talking about the Imperial models, then yes I have seen a four-door)

Yes...it's been advertised in AutoWeek for ages. I don't have an issue in front of me and I don't remember the car's name...but I was just looking at it this afternoon.

By the way, when I get back to my computer, I'll post a picture of the LeBaron sedan. Although there were three generations of LeBaron sedans (not including the Imperials), I don't have a picture of the first (RWD) or third (FWD) generations...only the second (FWD).

No more takers on the name of my mystery car?

Is the mystery car a Chrysler New Yorker? I suppose I'm wrong but it kind of looks like one.

That was a 600E to be exact.

The LeBaron line dates back to the 30s I believe, but here are the more recent ones.

M Body: Which later became the new yorker.

http://www.dippy.org/photo/desc/descleba01.jpg

K Body: This is what replaced the M body LeBarons.

http://www.thedodgegarage.com/reliant/reliant_1.jpg

H Body: These replaced the K body LeBarons, which continued on as the Dodge K, Aries, and Plymouth Reliant. The H body was available as the GTS as well.

http://www.dippy.org/photo/desc/descleba03.jpg

J Body: This is my fav model of LeBaron which you could get as the GTC. GTS stood for Grand Touring Sedan and GTC stood for Grand Touring Coupe. You could get the J body in hardtop or convert.

http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_a/220000-220999/220444_14_full.jpg

AA Body: This replaced the H body LeBarons and New Yorkers.

http://www.dippy.org/photo/desc/descleba05.jpg

LX Body: This replaced the J body in 1993 and went until the LeBaron was replaced by the Sebring in 1995.

That was probably more than you even cared to know.

Can anybody guess what car this is?

Actually I've seen the car at the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky, and it was on my 365 day Car & Driver calendar once :)

Okay....here's what I've got for you.

My picture was NOT the Chrysler New Yorker, which was similar but not this body, or the Dodge 600. It was called the E-Class in production but it was originally intended to be called the Chrysler Gran LeBaron.

The hatchback could be the Dodge Conquest, Plymouth Conquest, Chrysler Conquest, or Mitsubishi Starion...they all look pretty much the same.

The H-body Chrysler LeBaron GTS didn't replace the K-body Chrysler LeBaron. The H-body was introduced in 1986 and the K-body model lasted until 1989 when it was replaced by the A-body LeBaron (sibling to the Dodge Spirit and Plymouth Acclaim).

The J-body was replaced by the JX version (Sebring convertible) of the JA-body (Cirrus sedan) and FJ-based Sebring coupe.

The E-body New Yorker was replaced by the C-body New Yorker, not the A-body.

After the Mako Shark...here's another concept:

I chose the Smyk, because it was part of an online contest to guess what this mystery car was, I was the second person to guess it right! I hardly expected anyone here to know what it was.
But I've got a real stumper this time (I think) if not, i'm going to have to dig way back into the archives to find something really obscure.
Take your best shot at this three-wheeled wonder.
