2000 LS Transmission Problem?

Hello all. Just curious if anyone has had a "buzzing" noise coming from their car while driving. My 2000 3.8L (118k) has recently started to make this noise and the vibration can be felt in the steering column as well. The noise gets faster as the car goes faster. My guess is that it is something inside the transmission going bad. Just curious to see if anyone else has had this problem and if its a easy fix or if the entire transmission needs to be replaced. Thanks!

My guess is with a bad wheel bearing. Very easy to replace.

I have a 2000 LS as well, except with 131k on it. Last year (at about 115K) I replaced all 4 wheel bearing assemblies. I was getting noise while driving and my ABS/Trac Control wasn't working. It cost me about $600 and a weekend to do all 4, but not a difficult job.
Earlier this year, I replaced the rear struts because of another noise (thought I had a bearing go bad already in the left rear. Figured out it was the struts after I changed to bearing again). The car handles now like it did when I bought it almost 6 years (and about 95K miles) ago and I don't have any funny noised when I drive.
Now, if I could only fix the cruise control.........

Any trans codes, what valve was replaced, what are the symptoms, lots of info missing. You say you have the same problem as what, the above posts refer to noises and wheel bearings?

thankyou maxwedge for the response, sorry but I thought i was responding to a certain thread. here is the problem, after the car is hot running on hiway for a hour or so, the trans will start to buzz or something like that. I can shift into 3rd from overdrive with no response to rpm, but the buzz will go away, the shift to the lower gear seems to be the same as for overdrive. as for the valve that was changed they said it had something to do with shift pressure from 1st to second and from 2nd to 3rd, the shift was sharp and there was a code but it is unknown to me. I also had the passlock changed again because the car would not start for me for 10 to 15 mins everytime i got in the car. but 2 days after i had it replaced the dam thing did it again. maybe is just a short of some kind for both problems. could it be a bearing in the trans?. thanks brad

What you describe could be malfuctioning solenoid not the pressure control that was replaced there are others in the trans, This should be road testrd and scanned with a trans function scanner by someone who knows what's what to eliminate guess work, it still could be an internal or convertor issue, but diagnostics are in order here. The noise is not a bearing issue, probably internal pressure related or increased engine noise in the lower gear, guesswork only from here.
