Does anyone know the best location to access the speed sensor pulse? VSS in heated area. Need to splice VSS wire but not near the exhaust. Any suggestions?

Welcome Rodtill,
Elaborate on your symptoms. When mine went bad (twice) The car ran, but shifted at the wrong speeds.
Yeah, I can reach the wires going to that thing by leaning waaaay over the trans, but how do you expect to verify the pulse without spinning by hand?
This isn't a rhetorical question, I'd love to be able to do this without having to pull the blasted thing first.

You can access the output of the VSS at the cruise control servo which is situated under the air filter. If you probe the dark green/white wire, that should give you a pulse signal from the VSS. But like CoachKarl said, the thing has to be spining for any pulse output.
