Wow! I just read all 12 pages of this famous/infamous thread!
As a recent arrival, I want to thank all parties who participated. I have absorbed more information (and attitudes) more quickly than I could have on any other thread.
This is the reason I'm spending so much time hanging out on this forum. I have limited funds, but I am a mechanic and I have decent tools. And I have a 1990 4-door LX with a D15.
At least now, I have a much better idea of where I want to go with my vehicle.
Once again, thanks to all! The diversity in level of knowledge and passion is incredible!

Just curious, what did you decide you might want to go with?

I've forgotten what the heck that thread was about - can we have a synopsis please? ;)

Heheh - I prefer the thread about putting a V-TECH controller on a non-VTEC engine - ummm... yeah :p

I have decided to try to wear out my D15. It's at 150,000 miles right now, and I intend to get at least 300,000 out of it. While I'm wearing out that engine, I'm going to be saving up for the swap.
It is worthwhile to upgrade to a MPFI, to have more fun and save some fuel during the next couple of years. I am going to get some lowering springs, just to lower it about an inch.
I want a big brake setup for the front. I want rear discs, maybe sometime next year.
Once this engine gives up the ghost, I'm going for......(build the suspense here...) a B-16!
I don't mind doing the swap and putting in different motor mounts, changing axles, etc.
Also, I think the B-16 will be easier for me to get going. Swapping out a whole unit, to me, seems easier than tearing apart and rebuilding a D16.

PS-Not into increasing heat by installing a turbo, can't spend the money to supercharge.
