Without a doubt, enjoying it as my new desktop wallpaper! :sunglasse

I love little views of history like this, and that image is just extremely well composed and processed I think. Thanks again!

The first two pages I,ve left as scanned, if anybody has time and they are willing to stich the pic together and improve its quality, please do. Many thanks in advance.

I might know a guy who could put some time into that. ;)

I've got them lined up next to each other in Photoshop now, but the really difficult part is going to be the Michelin Man logo down on the nose and that little winglet thing. I'll see what I can do with it - perhaps borrowing a section from an unrelated photo to make it all work. :naughty:

Well this turned out to be a slightly challenging project, but finally it is done to my (possible) satisfaction, and hopefully yours. Click this pic to launch a larger version at 1448x772.

If you want the original which I am less pleased with, follow this link here for the DL from MediaFire - its double the resolution of the one above.

http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=hkztt2jazhm

I didn't spend extra time cleaning up every little glitch on the page as the car was fairly dirty from the rain so I would have certainly been 'cleaning it off' in trying to remove any stray marks this time.

Very nice indeed! Good work Erik!!!!!
Thank You!

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is now just only 2 questions remaining:
1. Which track? (Small rear wing, could be Hockenheim or Monza or.....)
2. #24R or #26R?

Time for some 96 British GT,s from Autosport, interesting to read Ian Flux,s article on how difficult the GTR was to race. all credit to 02R,s owner Jake Ulrich, for sticking with it throughout the season.

Thanks Le Man - you know l always enjoy the looks back at GTR race history. :)

Also, I just realized that with the corrected photo of the FINA longtail above, I intended to share a link to MediaFire below the picture, that would give everyone access to an ultra-high res version, but instead I accidentally shared a link to the medium sized one again. All fixed now...

Couldn't they have any less expensive barbecue there at Le Mans '97? (and they had it double, first 22R during the practice and this 25R during the race!)

I think the burning rubber, oil, paint and carbon fiber are not giving the extra flavours I would prefer to have. Pepper and salt are enough for my steak. :icon16:

I wouldn't think there'd be even that much left of the engine cover from #25R with the rear fully engulfed like that. Perhaps that piece comes from the other GTR that Doc mentioned. Cool piece of history that someone has - hopefully the smell has gone away.

I would also put my bets on the 22R!

I found these images with my quick search but I have seen also a better one from above like that of the 25R (#39) and the rear of 22R (#40) is in much better shape on that aftermath photo than the 25R.

http://thumbnails12.imagebam.com/6911/bed99169105791.gif (http://www.imagebam.com/image/bed99169105791) http://thumbnails12.imagebam.com/6911/5a0fef69105792.gif (http://www.imagebam.com/image/5a0fef69105792)

EDIT: Also see the tears of the right rear end of the engine lid, better match to 22R! 25R seems otherwise intact, only the paint has become smutty.
EDIT2: was just 3 min late to this party! :(

It has been listed regularly by 2 German magazine sellers. Always with the front page only though, so I requested them how many pages the article was to figure if it was interesting enough. Both of them dodged the question though.

Always pleasure to see the GTRs as they were when they raced. Sadly the old imaging and printing equipment couldn't produce the colors of those LARKs so well.

But anyway I'll do my contributions on this thread as these have been laying on my hard drive for a while; starting with the old Auto Hebdo that features the 05R as it were in Jarama 1995:

He Doc! Some great articles there, especially the Auto Hebdo.

Great shot too from the air of the Gulf GTR in the rain.

My scanner is one of those 3-in one, print/scan/copy. Scanning functionality is minimised: one button 'Scan' :)

Sorry I wasn't specific enough, I didn't mean to criticize your equipment, but the old cameras and films (the photographers used) and the printing equipment of the 90's magazines couldn't reproduce the pink of the LARKs correctly. Also that 05R in Philippe Charriol livery had the pink that in many pictures from those days seem to be red or orange, but not pink. Those Auto Hebdo pictures are of the better end of the scale towards the pink (especially that last picture of the rear of the car).
