Have a Base Model P.T. Cruiser with auto trans.
The speedometer is making a lot of noise and acting up.
Is there some way to disconnect speedometer?????

Are you quite sure it's the speedo making the noises? These are electronically controlled gauges with fluid dampers.
There is a test mode for this Cluster Assembly.. you might try to run the 'self diagnostic check' to see if that cures your ailments.. it will reset all the pointers during the checkup..
Have a look at the attached pages from the 2004 FSM, I've also attached the VSS section so you can have an idea how the Speedo gets its signals.
