95 hood latch adjustment tips

I noticed the hood on one side was nearly an inch higher than the side panel at the lights. It didn't originally look like this. I discovered there is no adjustment on the hood latch. The hood latch holds the hood up. I tried adjusting the rubber hood stops that screw up and down, but didn't fix the problem. It only would hold the whole hood up too high. I finally concluded that in order to get the hood to properly align with both side panels, the hood latch needs to be lowered. I will confess that this is not the original hood, but a used one off a 96 that should have been a direct replacement. When I did the repair, I was able to make a reasonable adjustment and alignment. Short of drilling new pin holes for the latch, I don't know of any other choice. :headshake :screwy:Thanks for your input.

this may not be your problem, but I had a problem with my 98 where I had to slam the hood hard to get it to latch, found later that the problem was there is a ground strap going from the fender to the hood right at the hinge by the antenna, and the ground strap was being squished in the hinge.
I re routed the ground strap and it works now as it should
