Hi All,
I'm new here. Have a Saturn SL series with about 140K miles on it. The car had a new battery a few months ago. I started it y'day to move it and it started fine. A little while later, it would not start. Battery seems to be fine. There is no clicking sounds or cranking of the engine. All the lights and radio seem to work fine. I left it alone overnight. I started it again this morning and it started fine. I turned it off and tried starting again and it would not start. Don't know what the problem is. Please help. :banghead:

check your battery again. Even tho its new, it can go bad. Autozone/advanced auto does battery checks for free.

Also, check all the grounds and battery connections. Make sure none are loose and there is no corrosion anywhere.

I did check the battery, the lights, radio and other electrical stuff seem to work fine. Do you think it might be a relay problem? I hope to get it to an autozone to check the battery. Other ideas would also be much appreciated to rule out options.

Since it doesnt crank its not a CPS issue.

Auto or manual?

Auto: Nuetral safety switch may be bad. Move the shifter foward and back again and see if the car starts after that. If so then that may be your issue

Manual: Clutch switch. There is a switch located on the firewall where the clutch hits. This must be pressed inorder for the car to start. This switch may also be bad.

I tried moving the shifter. But it did not work. I just bought a starter relay since some have told me that the solenoid in the relay wears out fast. I was unable to locate the starter relay. Can you tell me where I can find it so that I can replace it with the new one? Thanks.
