I bought our PT in Sept 2006 with 135,000 km on it (85,000 miles)
It now has 183,000 km (114,000 miles)
I do not know if the Timing belt was serviced before or not.
Should it be replaced at any point just for the sake of maintenance or should I wait for some sign that it needs to be changed?
If it does need changing how hard is the work, can I do it myself?
I have had no engine issues with the car at all to this point

I just checked into it, and if you are going to change the timing belt, you have to remove the A/C belt and the serpentine belt, to get at the timing belt.
The mechanic says its a 5.4 hour job, and if your changing the timing belt, there is no additional labor to replace the other two.
But, labor rates are 89 to 96/hr, so the bill with the cost of the belts as well is like $650.00, now I have not checked with the Dealer yet, has anybody else? Or, has anybody done this yet?
