Just to support the cause for good old detroit steel, my grandfather had a chevrolet that he put about 800,000 miles on the engine (V8) over the course of it's life. It was a work truck too. All you have to do is take care of your ride.

Oh, and by the way, I've walked a couple V6 stanks.. sorry.. stangs in my driving experience too. My car is rather sluggish, so it's not a huge feat. Someone should find the power/weight ratio of the Neon and the Accord, and tell it like it is.

As for V6 stangs, they only had 145 hp. A stock civic will eat up one of those.

Thank you for that grandoise generalization. With regular oil changes and proper maintenance, american cars will last as long as any honda. The only exception is GMs electrical systems...and a faulty exectrical system is not exactly what I call "broken beyond repair".

hey there is this kid with a 95' dodge neon running 13.67 on the quarter mile, all motor no nitrous. and with two jL's with amps.

so the problem isn't the neon the problem is the certain people with the neons

I saw a Neon SRT for the first time up close the other day. I have to admit.. they are pretty nice.

Seems that most of you in your Civics and VW's or whatever dont really know what a fast good looking car is. Acura's, Honda's, Toyota's, Nissan's, Neons, VW's are all butt ass ugly and slow. The only real nice car is the NSX, Supra, and the 350z deserves an honorable mention. All the rest are basic transportation devices transformed into retard mobiles with big wings and coffee can exhausts.

You know what I don't understand about Honda owners and Neon owners is the fact that we put an exhaust and an intake on our engine and we think we should be the next car in fast and the furious!!!! I got news for you it ain't gonna happen! I give civics and neons their props they can be nice looking cars if they are done right but I am sorry no civic or neon is gonna run with a truck that is pushing over 400 Horse!! Hey it's like this look your neon does have great power i not gonna deny that and say anything bad about you car it's a great car (speed wise) for the price if i was into domestics i would have gotten one but it's just no my thingh you know i mean i'm not gonna dis it just because it's a neon (even tho i don't like the look) but your car does offer great power for the low price i say good buy dude have fun with your neon no dises coming from me i respect what's fast from a 4cyl and muscle cars are in a different class of there own if you own one then you know

the other night a lil kit in his neon pulled up to me. the kid could have made it any more obvious how gay his car really is.. he had a 20 dollar exhaust which made the deepest gayest farting noise ive ever fucking heard!.. he yells out the window "wanna go".. i aint no punk in my 92 accord Stick Shift.. normally i dont race.. (just go about 70 down the street always) so i took the challenge.. not only did i blow him off the line with 1st gear, he couldnt even catch up, fucker just trailing behind... dont matter if its a turbo, put me against it il 0wn it. w0rd.

My friend one thing you need to understand, I am not talking down, but a SRT4, which would be a turbo charged neon you will not own!! You are a prime example of one of the Fast and furious kids, You drive an accord thats cool but it is not all that and yes a turbo charged neon or SRT4 would own you i am sorry to say. And if you really want a rush come meet me and my dakota r/t.

The SRT is Dodge's way (and a damn good way, seen the car and driver report?) of attacking the Import market. I don't care what people say, I've seen freggin fast Neons. I agree some jerkoff in a stock neon with a tin can can't talk. An SRT owner can, shoot throw a neon-looking body on it and you'd have a hell of a lurker. My accord know's it's place, I'd get told. For that matter I got told by a "ford taurus" the other night :confused: ... now thats a lurker.

if i were to be given an SRT4 id drive it around, do burn outs, maybe spank a civic or two, sell it, then buy something for my accord.

My parents owned a Chrysler minivan, a Chevrolet pickup, a Honda Accord, and just bought a Dodge Ram. My sister owns a Honda CR-V, and I own a Honda Accord.

The Chrysler minivan had so many problems, we visited the dealership about once a month to have something else fixed. The Chevy pickup has been a total peice of shit, they've had to replace the radiator, carburator, alternator, starter, and things they haven't even told me about. I thought they should have bought a Toyota Tacoma but they didn't consult me on buying this new truck. All I can say is, we haven't had good experience with domestics in the past, so we'll have to see.

On the other hand, my dad's '95 Accord has over 365,000 miles on it and hasn't had any major problems. My sister's '99 CR-V has over 125,000 miles and has no problems, and my '94 Accord is pushing 130,000 miles and the worst problem with it was a rusty exhaust.

I have four friends that own Toyota pickups. Three have Tacomas and one has a plain pickup. None of them have had any major problems that I can recall (although one guy had his horn get stuck). However, I did have a friend who went out and bought a Dodge Neon and after 1 year wanted to sell it. I went over to it and leaned on the hood and you could hear the suspension was messed up. I'll admit, some domestic cars are quality, but I believe it is easier to find a quality import. The father of the guy who owns the plain Toyota pickup also has a Chevy Tahoe and a '97 Hummer. These cars have been pretty good to them. The Tahoe broke down once and the Hummer isn't starting at the moment, but besides that have been pretty reliable.

I just have to say in my experience, I trust Honda and Toyota more than I do Dodge and Chevrolet. However, to prove that I'm not cowering behind imports, I also wouldn't buy a Subaru or Mazda, with the exception of the WRX STi, but only because it's the highest quality car Subaru makes, and even than I'd take a 3.2TL over that any day.

I realize that domestics have pretty good power, that's one reason why I don't race people on the street. I drive a Honda Accord, it is not a power demon. It is reliable, however, and not having to take my car to the shop all the time is something that's important to me.
