I own a 1994 Mercury Sable LTS My question is are the brakes disc brakes?
I don't know nothing about cars my friend said they were but I really don't know. Also when I ask my dads friend he said something about that these brakes have ball bearings that you gotta change or take off. I'm not really sure and that it takes awhile so does it? Thanks sooo much :>

More than likely you have drum brakes on the rear and disc brakes in the front.
If you take off one of the rear wheels you'll see a circular metal plate that is somewhat cup-like with the "sides" of the cup pointing towards the car as opposed to pointing at you. That is the drum.
If you pop off a front wheel and do not see this same cup-like plate setup, you have disc brakes in the front.
With regard to ball bearings...your friend is more that likely referring to axle bearings which only need replacement once in great while and only after they've gone awry.
