I don't as my experience is with earlier years, but I highly recommend you ask the Taurus folks in their forum instead of here. Include if you can asking price, condition, repair history. Try Consumer Reports. Be aware that is the first year of that redesign of the Taurus, so expect bugs. Needless to say, the 95, which I own, didn't come bug free.

By far, most Windstars have the 3.8L engine.
Starting in 1996, they only used the 3.8L front wheel drive version, in the Windstar.
So your motor history will be different from the vast majority of the windstars.
However, the Windstar is built on the Taurus platform.

The transmission is a weak point......I believe it is worse for the windstar due to the additional weight, but something to look out for.
The transmission fluid needs to be FAITHFULLY changed at LEAST every 30K miles, or you are likely to have problems.

If the condition, and price is right....it is a good vehicle for the money.
