2 wire alternator in a 3 wire car?

I was thinking about putting a '06-'07 125A alternator in my '00, but the car has a output switch (turn off) lead from the ECM. The new alt has 2 wires at the connector and evidently GM has dropped turning off the alternator under certain conditions. Probably wasn't worth the MPG gain. The question is: Can I terminate the ECM control lead and would the ECM be happy with getting the ~400Hz sense and voltage sense all of the time from the new alt? New alt has only a few miles on it (because it's almost new) and was priced right (from a recycler: uh, low demand unit). My car has 88K and I don't an errant voltage reg or bearing to strand me or the girls. Also, yea, I'm replacing my 105A unit and will beef up the current-carrying wires.
