I have a 2000 Impala purchased used that the driver window will not work (hasn't worked since I purchased the car). The other 3 work fine. When I push the power window button down it clicks but doesn't move. When I push it up it does not click like the others do. I looked back at some previous posts and some people have had problems with thes switches, but most said they could put the window down but not back up, mine doesn't work at all. Does this sound like the same issue? If the switch isn't bad what other components could be bad other than the motor itself?
I'll probably take the switch assembly apart to see what it looks like before I spend any money on this but wanted some opinions.
Thanks guys!
Bob

I had the same trouble last month. The other 3 window switches worked, but the driver side quit.
I took the switch apart (easy to do) and found that the driver switch was charred from shorting out. I tried to clean it, but it would not work. I bought the switch from one dealer. I found out from a few previous dealers that the switch is back-ordered until March.
But I think a few places online sell it.
Good luck.

Thanks Tom. Can a guy buy just one switch or do you have to replace the whole switch block? What ballpark cost are we talking?

The whole switch box must be replaced. I got mine for $75. The AC Delco p/n is D1985D. The GM number is 10283834. Both numbers apply to the 2000 Impala.
It is a 10 minute job to replace it. Remove the 2 torx screws in the drivers door handle, then the whole handle plastic assembly will pop out. Pry out the switch box, disconnect 2 connectors, and put in your new one. Test, and you're done after putting the handle assembly back.
