01 impala serious problems

Okay, so I have and 01 impala w/ about 100K on the clock. Here's my problem for the past week or two my impala has been in my fathers hands diagnosing some problems. So far I've replaced the cat, driver window switch, and had a sensor replaced. But it had a weird starting issue where if the engine was cold and you try to start it it would just sputter and die if you didn't give it the gas. Now my dad goes to start it and he notices the reverse lights are on, he gets in and all he smells are burning wires. I don't know what he was thinking, but he tried starting it and it wouldn't start, the radio doesn't work, the power locks don't work (but the windows do). oh and during the time that when you start it you had to give it gas it would also take about 30 sec. for the gauges to start working.

Please help, my Stealth is in the garage getting new turbos and I'd really hate to have to throw it together and drive it in the winter. Thanks. Rich
