is it possible to remove the head on a 1999 sl2 without pulling the motor? Thank you

Most definetly. However the hardest part will be the timing chain cover. its a tight squeeze for your hands but with the right tools and flexibility it can be done. most keep the manifolds on and remove them later once the head is out, as its easier and they are goot handle for when you actually remove the head. These are Interference motors so be sure to keep timing as first priority when reassembling. Good luck
