My 98 SL1 just won't go

So on vacation my car broke down. It is a 98 SL1 stick shift. It just stopped accelerating after about an hour of driving on the highway. It bucked slightly and then no more go, however the engine was still running fine. The first time it did this the coolant light came on, but the second time it did not. When it was towed to a service station it was running again.
I have taken it to 3 mechanics thus far. So far everyone tells me it is fine, but then I drive it and it breaks down again. They are unable to reproduce the problem when running it not moving for an hour in the shop.
Things that were suggested and crossed off the list:
Cadalitic converter
transmission
overheated clutch
fuel pump
Has anyone else had this problem and might know what it is?
Thanks!

you need to post more than...it broke down.
1. engine runs?
yes?- go to 4
no?- go to 2.
2. Does it crank over?
yes? - go to 3
no? - check battery connections and clutch switch
3. is there spark at the towers?
yes?- check shrader valve and fuel pump. you should be able to hear the pump prime when the key is in the run position before starting the car.
no? You need a new CPS
4. Engine runs but dies once clutch pedel is released in attempt to move foward or when the car is under load?
yes? - replace spark plugs
no? - if engine is fine under load then transmission and clutch are alright.
see where im going with this :) you need to do some more diagnosis and post the results
