I've bought a drain plug to put into the trans pan. I'm wondering if anyone has pictures of where they installed theirs. I'm thinking front side, NOT bottom.

Ditto on the side better than the bottom, especially if you want to keep from ripping it off. Can't recall exactly, but in the past month or so, someone posted a similar question but I don't recall if it was a winy, taurus, probably not escort, but that's where I frequent. It wasn't you that had previously asked?

No, I did talk about adding the plug as it seemed to be a good idea (in my head anyway). Here's the thing, I have access to a replacement pan that I can clean up and install the plug in before removing the one on my van. I of course want to get the plug in where it will fit and not somewhere where it won't. I hope to get the pan all ready before dropping the one on my van. My vehicle repairs situtation is not the best right now. The work gets done in my driveway but the machining gets done at my shop at work. Unfortunately I can't work on the van at my shop. Sooo, in a perfect world someone would have a pic or described location where it's safe to install I'd put it into the replacement pan, drop the current 1 and away we go.

This one has lasted in midwest winters since 2003:

Just locate and drill a .500 hole, weld in a 1/2-20 jamb nut on three flats, and thread in a standard oil drain plug with gasket (Dorman 65202, 65245, or equivalent plug).
