Hello,

I had the intermittent window switch issue, but today that was it. It is 20 degrees and the window is stuck down. When you push the button to put window (already down) you hear the motor engage and window move. You feel the click in the switch when you try to put window down. When you try to put up window, the switch has a smooth action, no click. I got gas this morning and when I tried to close the window, the switch felt like it snapped.

The replacement part # 10283834 (aftermarket # acd1985d) is back ordered and some sites have the after market. Is there a way I cound get the window up? Maybe cross some wire somewhere just to get it up?

Any suggestions. The part will be here next week and do not want to have the window down until then....

Please help!

you will have to remove panels and see what is broken.if you window was frozen and you regularly use the windows in cold weather it is most likely plastic support or another componet broken. then by using a piece of wood cut to proper length you can hold window in closed position until repairs can be made.....

Go here: http://impalahq.naioa.com/ and click on "How To" for instructions on how to remove the front door panel.
You might also try this writeup I made :http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=14592 for instructions on how to fix your switch problem. I would try this first, because you can remove the switch box in 5 minutes, and take it inside where it's warm to work on it! Plus, all four window switches inside the box are the same, so you may be able to take parts from the back window switch to fix the front one.

I took the switch apart and it was badly charred. The plastic piece that rocked actually broke, it wasn't the charred remains of the switch.

I went to 4 dealers and they were out and backordered from Nov/Dec. I found a somewhat local dealer that had the switch. I bought their last one. Now I can open and close my window.
